Aaah, so I spent all of my savings on food today! It's not like it matters one way or the other what I do with my money though. I was going to buy Mr. Hawk a nice new rifle, but lately all he seems to know how to do is talk to pretty skinny female mercenaries. I'm sure he'll be working a different rifle and will have no time for me or a new weapon!

[He doesn't cut himself off- it's more that the words just die in his throat somewhere. He takes a breath and tries again.]

[He's silent another minute, hand on his face shaking as he struggles again to admit his feelings for her in light of her sudden accusations. His chest aches as he kicks inwardly, already regretting all this. This is why he didn't let himself get attached. It just made it easier to find an opening, easier to wound him in a way he couldn't anticipate.

He takes another deep breath, removing his hand as the gears in his mind click into place. His voice has a forced calmness to it when he finally speaks.]

Nevermind. I know what's wrong, and I'll take care of it for both of us.
