[He stopped as Pyro's arms wrapped around him, expecting pain; however, it became apparent she was doing her best not to hurt him this time, actually taking care to not squeeze his injured frame too tightly. Words came to mind, primarily those of Medic and Miss Pauling. As the doctor had warned, he was going to be considered her friend— no, family,— whether he liked it or not. There was no changing that, as was evidenced by her consistent visits in spite of his terrible attitude.
The assistant's words struck more of a chord with him: she'd said herself she felt it was her duty to protect him. Even if she didn't stick around out of some misguided sense of camaraderie toward him, she might do so out of professional obligation. True, they no longer had the job, but that was how he had to think of associating with them- he'd only do so because it was what he was supposed to do. If they all made it out of Paradise alive, RED could thank him with a nice bonus on his paycheck.
He pushed the air out of his lungs, a cloud forming against his hot breath. He could fight it all he wanted (and likely would, given how he felt about attachment in general), but in the end, he was going to have to accept that she was going to be around whether he liked it or not. In his condition, he was going to have to be the one to change and adjust, as he didn't have the stamina to perform otherwise. She wanted to be his friend, and it was fine for her to consider him as such; however, he saw her as nothing more than a work acquaintance, and someone who had been an ally in Paradise thus far. He needed her help for now, and thus had to cooperate; it wasn't a permanent bond. It was nothing personal for him.
He could feel his face turning red as another moment passed with her arms around him.]
All right. Ya don't have to get so sentimental.

Look on the bright side, right beyond these doors are plenty of foods just waiting for you to eat them. Several of them don't have bacon. Now, I know that excites you Snipers for some reason so I will let you have all the food and I will be a good girl and not eat any of it. I mean--if it doesn't have bacon, it's not made for me.
[She'd cave in and start eating it all anyways, she was just trying to be on her best behavior.]

Date: 2011-12-27 12:51 am (UTC)Right. Not like I can eat much with only two fingers. Just park me near the wall somewhere and don't forget me when it's time to go. I don't expect the docs will appreciate my disappearance.
[He was looking forward to getting those splints taken off his other fingers- the nurses had said it'd be in the next week or so. No amount of time was soon enough.]
