She was apparently surprised he'd gone out of his way to do anything even remotely kind for her- understandable, given his standoffish nature and relative dislike for all things even vaguely related to camaraderie; however, what she didn't know was his ulterior motive for making the drink in the first place. She might not've been so kind if she knew it was laced with sleeping pills. Not that he was going to reveal that little tidbit to her, of course.]
Don't be so surprised. You nodded off at the table and were talkin' in your sleep. Sounded rough. I thought if you woke up, the drink might help calm you down, I suppose.
